The Rector's Weekly Tag on the Scriptures: [Jan 22nd]
Sometimes it is important to see the global view. Going to the mountaintop where you can see the whole terrain gives that overview we so often cannot imagine. The imagery of Epiphany is metaphorically expansive from the intimate immersion in the waters of the Jordan, to the global vision of the mount of Transfiguration. We need to live our lives with an awareness of both. Our baptismal immersion calls us to our particular lives of discipleship and it promises us utmost support as we vow to trust in Christ’s grace and love. The view of the transfiguration, with its supporting cast of Moses and Elijah, remind us that we are part of something so much bigger than ourselves both in time and in place. Both personally and globally, we are called and supported in our work of love and hope for ourselves and for the world.
